Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Prefect of the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, arrived in Lviv on Sunday and then headed to the Kherson region. He personally delivered a portion of the humanitarian aid that His Holiness Pope Francis sent for those affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station by Russian forces.

This was shared by the Apostolic Almoner to His Beatitude Sviatoslav during a telephone conversation, as reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

"His Holiness wanted to go there, where the Russians destroyed the dam," noted Cardinal Krajewski.

During his visit to southern Ukraine, the papal almoner will visit Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic, and Orthodox parishes.

He recalled that last week, one truckload of humanitarian aid for the victims of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station explosion was already sent from the Basilica of St. Sophia in Rome. Another truckload with the necessary assistance for the area will soon depart for Kherson.

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski informed His Beatitude Sviatoslav that through this mission, Pope Francis seeks to express his solidarity with the Ukrainian Church and people.

"The Pope is constantly praying for Ukraine," he added.
