Nationwide aid campaign for Kherson residents launched by the Ukrainian Roman Catholic Church

"Caritas-Spes Ukraine", together with "Caritas-Spes Odessa", formed a working group to assess needs and coordinate response efforts. Volunteer organizations in Odessa are assisting with evacuations.

Odessa:

Mykolaiv:

61V Kosmonavtiv Street (food packages, water, clothing, financial aid).

Logistic routes for delivering drinking water have been established. Today, 24 tons of clean drinking water have arrived in Mykolaiv. Additionally, another 48 tons of humanitarian cargo are en route and will be delivered to Odessa and Mykolaiv. Shelters in various parts of Ukraine are ready to accommodate the new wave of displaced persons. The organization "Caritas-Spes Odessa" has also initiated a financial support program for those affected by the flooding.

Our experts have identified the need for water pumping and disinfection equipment, hygiene items, and animal feed, in addition to the need for drinking water and food. They are also exploring possibilities to prevent bacterial hazards and developing both urgent and long-term assistance programs.

The campaign can also be supported through donations to the "Caritas-Spes Ukraine" account, specifying the purpose of the payment as "Charitable assistance for Kherson."

Reminder: The Kakhovka Reservoir held approximately 18 million cubic meters of water. After the dam was detonated on the night of June 6, tons of water rushed downstream. Thirty-two settlements in the de-occupied part of the Kherson region, where over 42,000 people reside, were affected by the flooding. According to various estimates, 16,000 people in the risk zones will need assistance with evacuation or on-site support.

The Religious Mission "Caritas-Spes Ukraine" of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine is one of the 49 members of Caritas Europa and a member of Caritas Internationalis, a global confederation that unites 162 Catholic organizations. The Mission has been operating in Ukraine for over a quarter of a century, with a National Office and over 50 regional centers.
