Restrictions apply to all events except worship and assemblies of the Center for Military Chaplains of the Curia of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).

As ZAXID.NET reports, 70 deputies voted for the resolution. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy immediately signed the document.

The decree defines the territory, which is surrounded by the streets Teatralna, P. Beryndy, Shevskoho, the squares Ivana Pidkova and Yavorskoho, and Svobody Avenue.

In addition to religious events, individuals or other persons authorized by labor groups or organizations are also prohibited from holding events.

Also, according to the ruling, the legal department of the Lviv City Council by March 1, 2014, must develop and submit to the deputies a Procedure for Holing in Lviv Public Religious Services, Religious Rites, Ceremonies, and Processions in areas adjacent to churches and on public spaces.

According to Lubomyr Melnychuk from the Lviv City Council, this resolution was passed because the provocations will continue: “The so-called Dognal sect is increasing its influence.”

Lviv’s mayor and chief of the city police department have been put in charge of monitoring the implementation of the deputies’ resolution.
