Bible-reading Marathon continues on St Sophia square

On the occasion of the 1030th anniversary of the baptism of Kyivan Rus, as well as to encourage Ukrainians to read and follow the Bible, all Christian Churches and the Ukrainian Bible Society have decided to proclaim the year 2018 as the Year of God's Word in Ukraine.

On the occasion of the 1030th anniversary of the baptism of Kyivan Rus, as well as to encourage Ukrainians to read and follow the Bible, all Christian Churches and the Ukrainian Bible Society have decided to proclaim the year 2018 as the Year of God's Word in Ukraine.

One of the numerous events planned on this occasion is the National Bible Reading. About this the Ukrainian Bible Society has told to RISU.

The event takes place on St Sofia Square, Kyiv, from 17:30 on July 5 to 20:00 on July 8, 2018.

During this time, the Bible is being read aloud from the beginning to the end and without stopping about by 350 readers: church leaders and clerigymen from all over the country, well-known figures, government officials and foreign guests. It will be performed in Ukrainian and Russian, Hebrew, Ancient Greek, Old Slavonic and Latin, as well as in many modern foreign languages, demonstrating the integrity, integrity and immutableness of God's Word.

The National Bible Reading is nominated to the National Register of Records of Ukraine as the most massive and longest loud reading activity in our country.

During the action, the national charity project “The Word of Love for Gravely Ill Children” will be presented, the purpose of which is to bring encouragement and support to the young souls who bravely struggle with serious ailments and their families. For children, special illustrated children's editions will be printed, and anyone willing will be able to support this project.

The Ukrainian Bible Society is an interfaith Christian organization whose purpose is to translate, print and distribute the Bible in Ukrainian and in the languages ​​of national minorities living in our country. The Society consists of 19 leading Ukrainian churches of the Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant faiths and the Department of Religious Studies at Hryhory Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The Society is a member of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, as well as an international organization of United Biblical Societies, with offices in more than 200 countries and territories of the world. Over the years, the Society has issued and distributed more than 12 million copies of the Bible and other literature.
