Several members of the Ukrainian parliament registered a bill on changes in the rules of procedure. He presupposes that the opening of each plenary session in Parliament, the prayer "Our Father," should be read, reported on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada.

Who will read the prayer the MPs themselves or an invited priest is s yet unclear, since the text of the bill has not yet been published, there is only data on its registration (July 13) and authorship.

Among the initiators are parliamentarians Oksana Bilozir, Pavlo Unguryan, Oleg Berezyuk, Valery Dubil, Yuriy Miroshnychenko, Andriy Shipko, Mykola Lavryk, Yuriy Soloveyev, and Yuriy Pavlenko.

In the Ukrainian society a grand discussion developed regarding this bill. Some religious leaders, among them Patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret, support this idea but there are many voices that stress the line between the State and Church according to the Ukrainian Constitution.
