In the village of Lozovyi Yar of Yahotyn District of the Kyiv Oblast, close to 6 a.m. on September 1, the wooden Church of St. Nicholas of the Moscow Patriarchate caught fire. The church was burned to the ground.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, seven fire departments participated in extinguishing the fire.

Background Information:

The Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Lozovyi Yar was built in the end of the 19th century. In Soviet times, it was the only functioning church in Yahotyn District which was never closed. It is an architectural monument of the local significance. It has one dome and a belfry but its roof is built according to the post-Byzantine style, which gives it its originality.
