The Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel, Yevhen Korniichuk, doesn't rule out the possibility that Russians might launch missiles at a gathering of people in Uman during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah so they can later blame Ukraine.

He made this statement to Liga.net, as reported by Ukrinform.

"I don't rule out a situation in which Russians might launch several rockets at a gathering of people and then say that Ukrainians did it," the diplomat explains. "We lack air defense. Look at what happened in Dnipro at night. We can't even defend all the major cities," the diplomat stated.

Korniichuk added that the Ukrainian side has publicly expressed its position in the media, urging Israel to sell air defense systems to Ukraine for the protection of its citizens in Uman. "This position was well received in the Israeli press. However, we have received no response," the ambassador noted.

Previously, Ambassador Yevhen Korniichuk stated that Ukraine, at the level of senior political leadership, is considering suspending the visa-free regime with Israel, particularly due to the difficulty of ensuring the security of pilgrims in Uman.

Rosh Hashanah is celebrated this year from September 15th. It marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year.
