The novice monk of the Pochaiv Lavra who praised Russian aggressors was sentenced to five years

Before the full-scale invasion by Russia, he worked on the economic court of the religious institution and concealed his pro-Kremlin views.

However, after February 24, 2022, the individual actively spread narratives of Russian propaganda through his own profiles on banned social networks such as "Odnoklassniki" and "VKontakte."

There, the collaborator praised the Russian military and political leadership and discredited Ukrainian defenders.

During a search of the disciple's cell, mobile phones were found, which he used to publish destructive content.

An expert examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of his subversive activities in favor of the aggressor country.

Based on the gathered evidence, the court found the perpetrator guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

▪️ Part 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants);

▪️ Part 1 of Article 111-1 (collaborationist activities).

He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment with property confiscation and deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, state authorities, local self-government bodies, and public service providers for a period of 15 years.

The investigation was conducted by SBU officers in the Ternopil region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
