Archbishop Gintaras Grušas, president of the Council of the Bishops' Conferences of Europe, visited wounded Ukrainian soldiers during his stay in Ukraine. He was accompanied by Fr. Andriy Zelinsky, deputy head of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the UGCC.

According to the UGCC Information Department, after a brief conversation in the hospital wards, His Eminence noted the high level of morale and motivation among our soldiers, despite the fact that many of them today have to go through difficult trials associated with serious injuries received at the front.

The children were happy to share their thoughts and impressions with the bishop. Some only recently managed to return from captivity, where they spent several months.

Ukrainian doctors today are making great efforts to put them on their feet. There is still a long period of rehabilitation ahead, but even today, during the meeting with the distinguished guest, all the wounded expressed their own desire to return to service as soon as possible.

Archbishop Gintaras Grušas spent a long time of his pastoral care among the military as a military ordinary of the Lithuanian Army. While giving his episcopal blessing to our wounded soldiers, His Eminence expressed words of deep support.

The Archbishop shared words of hope with the Ukrainian soldiers, saying that the current suffering and struggle of the Ukrainian people for their right to a peaceful life will be the key to the well-being and prosperity of Ukraine in the future.
