Head of UGCC to lead a prayer for Ukraine in Italy

Patriarch will visit the grave of the servant of God Maria Teresa Carloni in Urbania, who was closely related to Patriarch Iosyp Slipyy during his Siberian imprisonment and after his release.

During the visit to the Archdiocese of Perugia, the regional center of the region of Umbria (Italy), on May 18 at 14:30, Patriarch Sviatoslav will meet with the Ukrainian community and lead the prayer for Ukraine. After the prayer, the Patriarch is to deliver a sermon to the Ukrainian migrants, according to the Information Department of the UGCC.

 

The Patriarch’s visit to the Archdiocese of Perugia will begin on May 17 at the invitation of Cardinal and Archbishop Gualtero Basetti. On the first day of his visit there will be a meeting and common prayer with the monks of the Franciscan Order at the tomb of St. Francis in Assisi.

At 14:30, the Cathedral of St. Lorenzo in Perugia to hold a joint prayer of Ukrainian migrants for Ukraine and thus His Beatitude Sviatoslav will meet with volunteers and charitable organization “Gomena.”

On May 19, the Patriarch of the UGCC will attend the opening of a philosophical conference at the University of Perugia and in the afternoon he will make a visit to a youth rehabilitation center for drug addicts to pray with them and deliver spiritual admonition.
