In the context of recent events in the Orthodox world, disputes over the boundaries of church institutions often arise between the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Kyiv and Moscow. Ukraine accuses Russia of misappropriating the territory of the Kyiv Metropolis. In its turn, Moscow appeals to the fact that the ancient Kyiv Metropolis differs from the territory of modern Ukraine. RISU decided to clarify this topic, getting advice from historians. Based on this research, we prepared an infographic.

On February 18, the Holy See announced that Pope Francis, accepting the recommendation of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), has appointed Bishop Borys Gudziak, Eparch of the Eparchy of Saint Volodymyr the Great in Paris, as Metropolitan and Archbishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

For the first time ever, Ukrainian becomes Patriarch's deacon in Constantinople
Andriy Krochak, Ukrainian by origin, was ordained as a deacon on November 30, 2018 in the Cathedral of St. George on the Phanar by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during the festive divine service in honor of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The patriarch gave a new name Iakovos to his Ukrainian deacon.

Fire Destroys St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carteret, New Jersey

Slovenia joins international action to commemorate Holodomor victims

Patriarch of the UGCC participated in Convention of the Knights of Columbus opening
The 136th Convention of the Knights of Columbus began on August 7 in Baltimore city. The theme of this year's Convention is Knights of Columbus - Knights of Mercy. Patriarch Sviatoslav took part in the Mass on the occasion of the opening of the Convention which was led by Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William E. Lori. It was in Baltimore that the founder of Knights of Columbus, the righteous Fr. Michael J. McGivney was ordained to priesthood. UGCC head on pastoral visit to USA
The visit of Patriarch Sviatoslav, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, to the United States began on August 6. The Hierarch will hold a series of important meetings in Baltimore, Stamford, Stockton, and Philadelphia. The visit will end on August 22, the Department of Information of the UGCC reports.

Metropolitan Anthony: UOC-USA at the moment has no intention to join Ukrainian Local Orthodox Church
