Metropolitan Onufriy explained US Ambassador how the unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy should be restored

On May 8, Metropolitan Onufriy accepted the United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Marie Jovanovic at her request. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC (MP).

The American diplomat was accompanied by the staff of the Embassy R. Farmer and V. Pasichnyk. On the part of the UOC-MP the meeting was attended by the head of the Information and Educational Department Archbishop Klyment of Nizhyn and Pryluky and Fr. Mykolai Danilevich, Deputy Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations.

During the meeting, the issues of inter-confessional relations were discussed.

Metropolitan Onufriy expressed a fundamental conviction that the unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy should be restored exclusively on a canonical basis.
