Egyptian community in Ukraine warns Turchynov of ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ threat

At the official meeting of Ukraine’s Parlaiment speaker Oleksandr Turchynov with Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Tamim and representatives of national minorities of the country, head of the Egyptian Brotherhood of Ukraine Walid Atyia warned the government official of the danger of some terrorist groups, as reported by UMMA inform.

In particular, he referred to such extremist organization as ‘Muslim Brotherhood’, which in recent years has been recognized as a terrorist organization in most European countries and some Muslim countries, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia. According to the head of the Egyptian community in Ukraine, the activities of the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ group affect all countries in the Middle East.

“In Egypt, this group is called ‘Devil-brothers’”, said Walid Atyia. “This is because the group’s ideology and outlook has nothing to do with those of the overwhelming majority of Muslims. They bring trouble wherever appearing and create big problems for the countries, where they are trying to gain a foothold.”

Recently, in the Middle East, this organization has been oppressed and displaced from the region. Walid Atyia expressed concern that the organization is now seeking refuge in Europe.

“As a citizen of Ukraine, I’m afraid that they might appear here and parasite on our country,” said Atyia. “Given the unstable situation in Ukraine in all sectors, there are so many loopholes they can use.”

Today there is only indirect evidence of the presence of this terrorist organization in Ukraine, but they are very alarming. Olexander Turchinov thanked Walid Atyia for the warning and assured that he understood all seriousness of the situation and promised to monitor this issue very closely. It should be noted that on Thursday, October 16, Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov made an official visit to the office of the SDMU (Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine). The parties discussed a number of important issues, including the interaction of government with national minorities of the country and the difficult situation in the south-east of Ukraine and Crimea.
