Yan-Kyryl.jpgPatriarch Kirill of Moscow arrived in the Crimea to meet with President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, reports the information agency UNIAN.

The plane of the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church landed at the Belbek airport near Sebastopol, where the patriarch was welcomed by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Mykhailo Zurabov, Metropolitan Lazar of the Crimea and Simferopol, Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea Vasyl Dzharty, head of the city state administration of Sebastopol Valery Saratov, and Consul General of the Russian Federation to Sebastopol Volodymyr Andreiev.

The head of the Synodal Information Department of the Russian Orthodox Church, Volodymyr Legoida, previously reported that the relations between Patriarch Kirill and Viktor Yanukovych are "good and friendly.”

He said that the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church and the president of Ukraine can discuss church-societal and church-state issues at their meeting.

According to UNIAN, Patriarch Kirill is to leave Crimea on the morning of July 24.
