The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, extended his gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his unchanging position regarding the provision of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

“I thank His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his firm and unchanging position regarding the provision of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.” For us, the support of the Mother Church of Constantinople is very important. “Together with tens of millions of Ukrainian Orthodox people, I pray for the decision to grant autocephaly, and do everything for it from my side,” the head of state wrote on his Facebook page on September 23.

The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, is convinced that the receipt by Ukraine of the Tomos of autocephaly will complete the approval of her independence.

As RISU already reported, on September 23, Patriarch Bartholomew, performing the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St Fokas in Istanbul, announced that he had sent a message to everyone that Ukraine would receive autocephaly as soon as possible, since it has the right to do so.
