On May 8, in Kharkiv, representatives of three Christian denominations paid tribute to the deceased during the Second World War.

 At noon, in Kharkiv park, where is a cemetery of Polish prisoners of war executed in the spring of 1940, the Archbishop of UAOC (united) Ihor (Isichenko), UGCC Bishop Vasyl (Tuchapets), RCC priest, Fr Dominik Kukyelka and Archpriest Vitaly Zubak collegially performed a memorial service for the dead, following which the flowers were laid.

According to the website of Kharkiv-Poltava Eparchy, in his sermon Archbishop Ihor noted on the need to remember the true beginning of the war in Europe in 1939.
