According to Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, the fact that a couple of buildings were occupied shows that the demonstrators are still acting very delicately. The government should thank God that the people behave as they do because it could be worse. This the hierarch said in an interview to EuroMaidan activist Anastasia Kinzerska, commenting on the current difficult situation in Ukraine.

The government should thank God that the people behave as they do because it could be worse. This the hierarch said in an interview to EuroMaidan activist Anastasia Kinzerska, commenting on the current difficult situation in Ukraine.

“We cannot condone the government, especially if the government does not behave properly in accordance with the requirements of humanity – it should be dishonored for what it does. This should be spoken about aloud, about how it behaves, so that they will not wonder why such excesses occur, because it is the voice of the people. It seems to me that the fact that a couple of buildings were occupied shows that the behavior is delicate. The government should thank God that people behave as they do, as I would not have been surprised if they beat left and right. I’m not saying I would want this, or advise it, but I would not be surprised, because I know the history of other people, how they respond. Our people still react very sensitively,” said the former head of the UGCC.

Cardinal Husar is sure that the government will go down if it is not worthy of its human vocation: “They are vanishing, and this is good that they are vanishing. Some condemn our people, saying they are too gentle, that they are not decisive in their responses. I think it does honor to our nation that people feel that they must act within certain limits.”
