Голодомор.jpgUkraine commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor. Along with a number of events that commemorate the tragic anniversary, it is important not to lose the memory of the people who were the victims of an undeclared war.

“We remember the famine of 1932-1933, its instigators, but we are unable to comprehend the horror that the average Ukrainian had to face, the Ukrainian whose last grains were taken from his home, whose village was surrounded by a ring of guards, whose children begged for food... In order to understand, you must experience it, or at least try to do it. This is one of the objectives of the campaign Communion, designed to honor the victims through fasting, prayer, and good works,” members of SUM said.

They call on people to join the campaign and pray, fast, and do a good deed to honor the memory of those who died innocently during the famine of 1932-1933.

The first Communion campaign, which was organized by members of the Ternopil Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM) in Ukraine and SUM members in Australia, took place in 2003.

Since then every year in November SUM holds such a campaign to commemorate the victims of the Great Famine.

Not only citizens of Ukraine, but also people from Georgia, Great Britain, Slovakia, Italy, the U.S. and other countries participate in the campaign.
