Ukrainian government bans mass celebrations of Easter during the quarantine

The Cabinet of Ministers has banned all mass religious celebrations during the quarantine period in Ukraine until April 24. This was stated on April 3 in a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers. 

It is noted that according to the adopted resolution, all mass events are prohibited until April 24. Cultural, entertainment, sports, social and religious events have been banned. Thus, mass celebrations of Easter, which this year is celebrated on April 19 (Eastern tradition) and April 12 (Western tradition), are prohibited.

They add that only those mass events necessary for ensuring the work of state authorities and local self-government bodies are allowed. At the same time, all participants must have personal protective equipment - masks or respirators.

As of April 3, there are 942 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus disease in Ukraine.
