The head of the OCU personally congratulated the elected Head of State on Easter and his election to the high office.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked for the greetings and expressed his hopes that friendly relations between Church and State would continue.

During the meeting, they touched upon the challenges confronted by the Ukrainians, in particular, the long-standing conflict in Donbas.

The elected Head of State and Metropolitan Epifaniy were unanimous about the fact that Church should pray, and State should do everything to secure peace and tranquility in all regions of the country.

The issues of the fight against corruption and poverty were also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the leader of the OCU offered as a gift to president-elect the reprinted Ostroh Bible – this is the first full text of the Old and New Testaments in the Slavonic language, made in Ukraine at the end of the 16th century.

That same day, Volodymyr Zelensky met with Patriarch Emeritus Filaret. The rector of the Church of the Nativity of Christ, Archpriest Mykola Salabai was also attending.

The hierarch congratulated the newly elected Head of State with the victory in the elections and called on him to use this power to promote good and overcome evil.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Patriarch for the meeting and conversation.
