At the gate of the temple, the Head of State and his wife were met by the senior priest of the temple Father Mykhailo who is also a military chaplain.

"I am grateful to the Greek Catholics and the Primate of the UGCC for their prayer and support for Ukraine to obtain peace," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

"Ukraine withstood and built a powerful army that can protect state sovereignty. Not only because it has weapons, because it is dressed and fed. But also because we finally have chaplains. There are no atheists on the frontline. I see it with my own eyes when I am at the front," Petro Poroshenko said.

"Teaching to pray is a cross of chaplains," the President added and thanked the chaplains for their service and faith in God and Ukraine.

Father Mykhailo thanked Petro Poroshenko for his complicated but very necessary work aimed to protect Ukraine. He also cited the words of former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski: "Petro Poroshenko has ruined the historic mission of Ukraine's torturer Putin".

The Head of State thanked for the warm words of the priest. "These words are not only the words of the Holy Father to the President. It is very important for me that this is the word of the military chaplain to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The word of a man who, at the most difficult moments of 2014, together with volunteer battalions, blessed volunteers to defend Ukraine. He was side by side with them and prayed for Ukraine," the President noted.
