Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin during a meeting with the Patriarch Jerusalem Theophilus III discussed the future of the Ukrainian Local Church.

The minister said it on June 19 on his Twitter page.

“This is not the first meeting with the Patriarch Theophilus III of Jerusalem, but it is always important to get spiritual inspiration here in Jerusalem, discussing the future of our local Church and much more,” he said.

In addition, in an interview with Channel 5, on June 18, Pavlo Klimkin said that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew would issue the Tomos of autocephaly the Orthodox Church in Ukraine to create the One Ukrainian Local Orthodox Church “in a tangible perspective.”

“In fact, the solution exists. The decision will be discussed and adopted by the Synod, and then the process of forming a unified Church ... And, after all, this Tomos will be passed to the new Church, and I really hope that it will happen in a tangible perspective. I am working on it, talking to rectors, patriarchs, bishops, different churches ... honestly, I have learned a lot, I can now read lectures on the history of the Church ... I believe that we have a real chance right now. And this is fantastically important for Ukraine. ... I'm sure it will happen,” Klimkin said.

He stressed that the process of forming a unified Church in Ukraine would be independent, because in the country the Church is separated from the state.
