Youth and Sports Ministry initiates cooperation with churches and religious organizations

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine held a discussion to define the format of interaction between authorities, churches and religious organizations, and the public, with a view of creating favorable conditions for spiritual and creative development of Ukrainian youth. 

The meeting took place on March 2 with the participation of Vice Minister Oleksandr Yarema and representatives of churches and religious organizations that are responsible for working with young people, the Institute of Religious Freedom reports.

Oleksandr Yarema informed about the activities of the Ministry in youth sector, including the initiatives, projects and measures that had been already implemented and those planned for the near future. He also stressed that such venues for meetings are very useful, as they help to unite common efforts in working with young people.

“Participants of the meeting have a lot of positive developments in the youth sector, in the implementation of measures and initiatives for young people. Creating a common platform of interaction, we get a much more efficient overall result of our actions,” said Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.

The attending ministers of churches and religious organizations stressed that this event was very important because for the first time in many years it brought together representatives of different faiths, responsible for working with youth.

Following the meeting it was agreed to develop cooperation in the areas of volunteerism, the implementation of measures for young people from among the IDPs, outreach work to promote healthy lifestyles among young people and others. The idea of ​​interfaith forum and open house nights of religious institutions were also put forward.
