The Head of State noted that mass rallies had been planned to destabilize the situation inside Ukraine this week, inter alia, with the use of Russian money and technologies. “I am grateful to the people of Ukraine for their wisdom,” the President stressed. He added: “The Bible says that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Your words and actions that help the flock keep unity of Ukraine in such difficult times are extremely valuable”.

The President thanked the religious leaders and religious organizations for their support.

In their turn, the leaders of churches and religious organizations noted that they did everything possible to support Ukraine and prayed for the unity of the Ukrainian people.

Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus’ – Ukraine Filaret emphasized that the Church did not support movements aimed to destabilize Ukraine. “We understand that the aggressor will not be able to take Ukraine by weapons anymore. That is why he wants to ruin Ukraine from inside. Our short-sighted politicians do not understand what they are doing and what the priority for Ukraine is today. Not the number of seats in the Parliament, but the independence of the state. For if there is no independent Ukraine, in what Parliament will they be? What is the sense of such a struggle? All our forces, all forces of politicians must be aimed at preserving unity of the Ukrainian state,” Patriarch Filaret noted.

Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate Onufriy stressed that the Church had always supported the integrity of Ukraine and unity of Ukrainians. “We will do everything for it to be preserved and achieved, for our troubles to be eliminated,” he said.

Petro Poroshenko has once again noted the importance of creating Ukrainian Single Local Orthodox Church. “As a believer and a citizen, I pray and dream of unity of our Church,” the Head of State noted.
