The Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) sent many letters to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych but received no reply, said the head of the UGCC, Patriarch Sviatoslav at a web conference at tochka .net.

Patriarch Sviatoslav also noted that neither himself no his predecessor, Cardinal Lubomyr (Husar), had a personal meeting with the president.

“The only moment when I had an opportunity to meet him was during the meeting with him this year on Holy Thursday [editor: as part of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations]. At that time, the President greeted me on the occasion of my election and gave me a large bouquet of white roses. After that meeting, there has been no contact,” said the head of UGCC.

At the same time, the patriarch stated that at the regional level, "church-state" relations are quite constructive.
