The Leninsky District Court of the Russian Rostov-on-Don city has extended the arrest of four Crimean Tatars in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” from the so-called “second Simferopol group,” the Crimean Solidarity reports.

According to the court decigion, Riza Izetov, Remzi Bekirov, Shaban Umerov and Ruslan Suleymanov will stay in the Rostov pre-trial detention center until November 15, qha reports.

The lawyer Edem Semedlyaev, petitioning to change the restrictive measure to house arrest, told the court that according to the Russian constitution, if the international agreement establishes rules other than the laws of the Russian Federation, then the rules of the international agreement must apply.

In accordance with the resolution that we attach to the objection, Crimea is indicated as an occupied territory; consequently, in the territory of Crimea the Fourth Geneva Convention should be applied. In accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention, they have no right to arrest my client, they have no right to initiate a criminal proceeding against him, since in accordance with Geneva Convention in the territory of Crimea only Ukrainian laws could be applied , – the lawyer said.

Semedlyaev also said that in accordance with the law of Ukraine, the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir is not on the list of banned organizations in Ukraine.

However, the court did not answer these arguments, and the Remzi Bekirov’s positive employment reference didn’t influence it any, – the Russian Internet publication Grani Ru.
