The center will be a place for prayer and other religious and cultural activities of the Muslim community, zaxid.net informs.

On Wednesday, March 25, a Muslim center “Ihsan” was opened at Svoboda Avenue 26 in Lviv. The center will be a place where the Tatar and other Muslim communities of Lviv will gather for prayer. In addition, the office will host interfaith discussions and intercultural exchange.

“We have a room for prayer, where the Muslims will pray 5 times a day, regardless of nationality. We also organized an educational section where the basics of our religion and its main book Quran will be taught. In addition, there will be various cultural events,” said Head of “Ihsan” community Ernest Abkilyamov.

He said the religious community rents office with the support of a Muslim community in Europe.

“After what happened to Crimea, Crimean Tatars moved to Lviv because we are concerned about preserving our identity. This office is a place where Crimean Tatars and other ethnic Muslims gather for communication and enhancing awareness of their religion,” said a member of “Ihsan” religious community Ruslan Ablyamitov.

In addition, he said, the office should be a place where representatives of non-Muslim community might gather to get more information about Islam and the Crimean Tatars to foster intercultural dialogue.

“It is because of misunderstanding and ignorance that the conflicts between people of different faiths arise,” he said.

In addition to prayer, the anniversaries of the tragic history of the Crimean Tatars will be marked here and other cultural and religious activities will be held. Every Saturday will be the Women's Dayin the religious center, when various cultural and educational activities will be conducted by women and girls.

The opening of office was initiated settlers from the Crimea, and supported by NGOs Crimea SOS and the Community of Crimean Tatars.

The first classes of Crimean Tatar language have been started in Lviv and will be taught free of charge. The first session is scheduled for March 28.
