Kyivan Patriarchate Publishes Plan of Events to Celebrate 1025th Anniversary of Rus Baptism

On the basis of the decision of the Synod and with the blessing of Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, the Synodal Committee on the preparation of the events to mark the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus published recommendations regarding the upcoming celebratory events to be held at the church and eparchial levels.

The events at the church level include:

1 Events defined by the Holy Synod (conference planned for 15 May at the Kyiv Theological Academy, Local Council to be held on 27 July in Kyiv, celebratory services and a procession to be held on 27 July in Kyiv).

2 Preparation and publication of a scholarly collection for the conference. Publication of thematic articles in magazines and newspaper during the year.

3 Introduction of an award for active participation in the preparation and organization of the events.

4 Cooperation with the state Organizing Committee in organization of the events.

The website of the Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) reports that the Synodal Committee is open to other proposals regarding the organization of celebratory events.
