Archbishop Oleksandr Acquitted of Charges at Synod of UOC-MP

On April 25, a regular session of the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate was held in Kyiv under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan).

According to the website of UOC-MP, the synod heard information of the metropolitan on the repot of Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolitanate, Archbishop Oleksandr (Drabynko) of 10.04.2013.

At the synod of 21.02.2012, which was held without the participation of Metropolitan Volodymyr who was in hospital, Archbishop Oleksandr was severely criticized by the bishops for “openly criticizing the decisions of the supreme church authority and artificially opposing the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to its Primate…”

In addition, the bishops passed a decision to dismiss him from the position of the vicar and head of the External Church Relations Department and exclude him from the synod. At the session of the synod of April 25, 2013, Archbishop Oleksandr was acquitted of the charges.
