The Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which was revived due to the Tomos, is the basis of Ukraine's independence and resistance against the spiritual aggression of the Kremlin.

The fifth President of Ukraine, the leader of the party "European Solidarity" Petro Poroshenko said this during a lecture for teachers and students of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, the press service of "European solidarity" reports.

Thus, Petro Poroshenko called on the world to support and protect the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

"Help spiritually save Ukraine. This is another battleground for Ukraine. This struggle is more fundamental than others. Ukrainians around the world should strengthen the level of support for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. I ask you to help us protect one of the milestones of Ukrainian sovereignty. The decision of the Patriarch of Constantinople to grant Tomos was a historic decision. It was grace for the prayers of a free Ukraine, for fallen heroes. The very existence of the OCU is a strong blow to the Russian spiritual expansion. And now we see the Russian government attacking our Church, those who support us.

They want to do with our Church what they did with Crimea and Donbass. And this is the task of every Ukrainian-to defend. And it is very important for the Diaspora to support the international recognition of our Church, " Petro Poroshenko stressed.

According to him, in the struggle for the Ukrainian Church, it does not matter which Church Ukrainians go to – either Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant, because we are talking about the spiritual sovereignty of the nation.
