The newly elected Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, assured that there would be no seizure of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. He announced this on Monday, December 17th, on ICTV channel.

“There will be no seizure of churches of the Moscow Patriarchate on the part of the One Church. Those parishes who voluntarily want to become part of the One Orthodox Church of Ukraine must be accepted, but without violence, without any actions that will provoke instability in society,” the Metropolitan emphasized.

According to him, “only love and respect can be the basis upon which the parishes that are now in the bosom of the Russian Orthodox Church will transition.”

As reported, on December 15, the Unification Council was held in Kyiv, which founded the local Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Metropolitan Epifaniy Dumenko of Pereyaslav and Bila Tserkva was appointed its Primate.
