Petro Poroshenko: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives threats from Moscow

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives threats from Russia, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page.

“The government and the president have done their job. His Holiness Bartholomew has done his job as well. Perhaps even more than he could, given the enormous pressure and threats that are coming from Moscow today,” Poroshenko wrote.

It should be noted that the Unification Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be held December 15 at the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Kyiv.

There, leaders of the Ukrainian Orthodox Churches - the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate - should deliberate on the unification of the church and the election of its Primate. It is to him that the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be handed over, in compliance with the decision that was approved by the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on October 11.
