The community “Ukrainian Local Orthodox Church” has posted on social network Facebook the translated statement of the press service of the Constantinople Patriarchate regarding the meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with the delegation of the UOC (MP).

According to the community report, despite the verbal statements of the representatives of the UOC-MP and MP Novynsky about the results of the visit to Phanar, the experts note that the release clearly stipulates the solution / consideration of the interests of the entire Ukrainian people. And this clearly indicates that the UOC-MP and Novynsky deliberately manipulate information and interpret in their own way what was said on the Phanar.

The community draws attention to the fact that the statement of Constantinople stipulates that the meeting took place on the initiative of the UOC (MP) and emphasize that the Ecumenical Patriarch, as the Mother Church, wishes to restore the unity of all Orthodox communities in Ukraine.

The delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) visited the Ecumenical Patriarch

On June 23, 2018,  the delegation of the UOC (MP) visited the residence of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Phanari. The meeting took place at the request of the Ukrainian side. The delegation of the UOC-MP included Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail, Metropolitan Feodor of Kamyanets-Podilsky and Horodok, Metropolitan Mitrofan of Luhansk and Alchevsk, Metropolitan Anthony  of Borispil and Brovary, as well as Fr Nikolai Danilevych and MP Vadym Novynsky.

Members of the UOC (MP) delegation were received by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Cathedral of St. George. The patriarch presided over the negotiations, besides him Metropolitan John of Pergamon, metropolitan Emmanuel of France and Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smirna attended the meeting.

During the talks, the current situation in the Ukrainian Orthodoxy was discussed, and an exchange of views was carried out concerning the desire of the Mother of the Church to restore the unity of Orthodox believers in Ukraine, as well as the prospects of granting the status of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

At the end of the day, both delegations made a pause to have a lunch at the Patriarchal refectory and then continued the conversation.

In his statement to the Ukrainian media, Metropolitan Emmanuel said: “Today, under the chairmanship of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, we have worked with the Ukrainian delegation here, in the walls of the Mother Church in Constantinople. This was a very useful and constructive cooperation, during which we exchanged views on Ukrainian issues that affect everyone living in Ukraine.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, as the Mother Church, has never ceased to be interested, but is now even more interested in solving the problems that persist in Ukraine, in particular the establishment of peace in the country, as well as the reconciliation of all communities and their cooperation for the good of Orthodoxy in Ukraine.

We are convinced that we can provide support, help at this critical moment to the Ukrainian people. Therefore, today's meeting was a truly blessed moment, and we hope for fruitful cooperation, future collaboration and constant dialogue with all the brothers - representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”
