Ecumenical Patriarch expresses his condolences to President and Ukrainians over death of Metropolitan Volodymyr

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, expressed condolences to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the people of Ukraine over the death Metropolitan Volodymyr, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

According to the press service of the head of state, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his condolences in a telephone conversation with Poroshenko. “Your wishes and prayers are great spiritual support, especially in the difficult times Ukraine is experiencing now. Metropolitan Volodymyr was a dear person for me, and for me this is a very tragic event,” said Poroshenko.

Patriarch Bartholomew wished wisdom and strength to Petro Poroshenko and the Ukrainian people and wished him to overcome the challenges that Ukraine currently faces.
