Historical memory or legal rights: Baptists in Volyn struggle for the future of an ancient church

The history evidences: the Local Churches that were historically associated with earthly empires were uninterested in the canonical establishment of local churches under their jurisdictions, and therefore usually granted autocephaly to churches only under the pressure of historic circumstances. No exception is the Moscow Patriarchate, which has incorporated the Orthodox Church in Ukraine since 1686.

Roman Catholics in Sevastopol conduct festive Paschal service in front of closed church

Church is planned to be turned into a communal grave
Archbishop Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea of the UOC-KP demands from the Crimean branch of the FSB of Russia to investigate into the actions of the security forces who blocked the temple of the Holy Equal-to-the Apostles Princess Olga and Prince Volodymyr in Simferopol on August 31, as well as to ensure the safety of the parishioners. Archbishop Klyment plans to file the relevant appeal with such requirements to the Kremlin-controlled Crimean government and the FSB of the annexed Crimea in the near future.

MFA of Ukraine requests Russia to stop religious persecutions in Crimea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has issued a statement on blocking by the Russian occupation authorities of the main Church of the UOC-KP in Crimea. The document contains a request for the Russian Federation “to immediately restore the unhindered access of believers of the UOC-KP to the church in Simferopol, to stop religious persecution and interference with the activities of the Crimean diocese of the UOC-KP and to ensure the fulfillment of obligations under international law.”

Russian authorities searched the Mullah’s house in Crimea
