Association of Catholic Media Workers of Ukraine Publishes Declaration Defining Its Mission, Values and Objectives

The Association of Catholic Media Workers of Ukraine published a declaration defining its mission, values and objectives. According to the document, Catholics acting in the social communication media (internal church ones and secular ones) are united in the Association of Catholic Media Workers of Ukraine in order to improve internal communication, raise their professional and spiritual level, jointly respond to the challenges facing the church, society and media. The association is not to fulfill the functions of the church press services.

The association defined its mission as one which is to help its members and other Catholics working in the social communication media to work and cooperate more effectively, grow professionally and spiritually, preserve the Catholic identity in the light of the Gospel and the teaching of the Catholic Church, observing the principles of the journalist profession, and serve the church and society.

The association also defined its values as follows: truth, openness, dignity, freedom, responsibility.

The objectives of the association include uniting the members of the Catholic Church working in the Ukrainian media, promoting the professional and spiritual level of its members, protecting their rights and interests, deepening the internal communication and cooperation, strengthening the voice of the Universal Church in the society and spreading Christian values.

The association intends to join the world network of Catholic professional journalist associations in the future.
