The World Congress of the Catholic Press is being held in Rome. The participants discuss the place of the printed media in the world, the threats and possibilities of the Internet, and how to bring the word of truth to modern audiences. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is represented at the congress by the head of the Information Department of UGCC, Fr. Ihor Yatsiv and a journalist, Dmytro Krykun.

Hundreds of journalists have gathered in Rome for the World Congress of the Catholic Press. The participants discuss the place of the printed media in the world, the threats and possibilities of the Internet, and how to bring the word of truth to modern audiences. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is represented at the congress by the head of the Information Department of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) Fr. Ihor Yatsiv and journalist Dmytro Krykun.

During the congress, the representatives of the UGCC held meetings with representatives of Lithuania and Belarus. Such meetings are important as the issues raised by the participants from USA and western Europe differ from the situation of the countries of eastern Europe. "Due to the historic circumstances of the last century, our church mass media are not so spread and developed as in other European countries. In addition, access to the Internet is not sufficient everywhere. Therefore, we have to develop special approaches in the work of spreading the teaching of the church in our countries," noted the participants of the meeting.

The members of the UGCC delegation also met with representatives of the Ukrainian community in Rome and Italy, the faithful and priests of the parish of St. Sergius, and Bachus in Rome. They also visited the Apostolic Visitator for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Italy Bishop Dionisii (Liuakhovych).
