Third Festival of the Orthodox Mass Media Launched

From October 7 to 9, in Kyiv, the Third Orthodox Mass Media Festival will be held, where the participants will have an opportunity to present the publications of their eparchies.

The program of the festival includes workshops on “New Media and Internet Journalism” to be conducted by a media expert, Nina Kuriata. According to the organizers of the festival, the guests will be able to learn more about the modern tendencies in the media, what is required from modern journalists, professional standards and journalist ethics in the new media as well as the structure and elements of journalist texts in the new media (titles, subtitles, leads), etc.  It is planned to hold a presentation of a book “Cathedrals of the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy: History and Modern Times” by deacon Heorhii Skubaka from Dnipropetrovsk.   

The festival’s delegation will also participate in the ceremonial opening of the Eighth Pokrov (Protection) Film Festival. The participants of the Third Festival of the Orthodox Mass Media will discuss at round tables the theme “What the Secular Mass Media Expect from Church Press Services” at the meetings of the Club of Chief Editors and at the presentation of the electronic catalogue of the Orthodox mass media.

The names of the winners in the nominations according to the questionnaire “Results of Information Activity of the Eparchies of the UOC for 2010” will be announced on October 9.
