“Is Christ divided?” – this will be the theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, held this year on January 18-25. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated annually under the auspices of the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The head of the UGCC Bureau of Environmental Issues, Dr. Volodymyr Sheremeta, said that one of the main topics of this year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is the question of responsibility for creation in the context of the calling of all Christians to holiness. This calling means to open yourself to the grace of God and become a new person in Christ through prayer and sacramental life, as well as by serving your neighbors, which includes a responsible attitude toward everything created in Christ, in the world, nature.

The organizers of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity prepared prayer-requests that correspond to the eight Millennium Development Goals, which the international community established to respond to the key challenges of the present and the future, one of which is to ensure environmental sustainability.

In accordance with the recommendations of the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the UGCC Bureau of Environmental Issues invites pastors of the Christian Churches of Ukraine to join the worship during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
