Metropolitan Sheptytsky Honored in His Village

Today, November 1, pilgrims from all over the Lviv region have been arriving in the village Prylbychi to prayerfully commemorate the 69th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky.

According to the organizers, the pilgrimage is headed by Metropolitan Archbishop Ihor (Voznyak).

First Deputy Chair of Yavoriv Regional State Administration Roman Kurash noted that in Prylbychi the pilgrimage with clergy and faithful of the Lviv Archeparchy will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at the Sheptytsky family chapel-tomb. And at 12:00 a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the chapel, which was erected in honor of Metropolitan Andrey and blessed Clement Sheptytsky.

Metropolitan Andrey (Roman Maria Alexander Sheptytsky); * July 29, 1865, Prylbychi - † November 1, 1944, Lviv) – Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; from January 17, 1901, until his death he was the Metropolitan of Halych and Archbishop of Lviv – the Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
