Kyiv Cave Monastery to Participate in YUNESCO World Memory Program

The National Kyiv Cave Historic and Cultural Reserve and the National Historic Library of Ukraine have agreed to cooperate under a contract on participation in the YUNESCO program “World Memory.”

Києво-Печерський_заповідник.jpgThe National Kyiv Cave Historic and Cultural Reserve and the National Historic Library of Ukraine have agreed to cooperate under a contract on participation in the YUNESCO program “World Memory.” The protocol in this regard was signed by General Director of the reserve, Viktoria Lisnycha and the Director of the library, Alla Skorokhvatova. So reported representatives the press-service of the Kyiv Cave Monastery to RISU.

According to the protocol, the organizations will develop long-term cooperation in the area of preservation of the most valuable documentary monuments from the stocks of the library and the reserve, carry out identification of the documentary heritage of the international significance from the stocks of the two organizations  for the purpose of its inclusion in the register of the World Memory program and take steps to inform the public about the importance of the documentary heritage and necessity of the preservation thereof.  

A national World Memory Committee is to be established to include representatives of the library and reserve and governmental agencies and leading experts in this field. According to V. Lisnycha, the participation in the YUNESCO program will allow to raise the prestige not only of the reserve but the whole Ukraine.
