Ev.jpgLUTSK – On April 21, 2010, following the Divine Liturgy at the Church of All Saints of Volyn in Lutsk a facsimile edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospel was given to the Museum of the Volyn Icon, reported the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate

The festivities were held with participation of the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, the diocesan clergy, and representatives of the regional and city authorities, in particular, of the deputy city mayor Anatolii Parkhomiuk.

In his turn, director of the Regional Studies Museum Anatolii Syliuk offered Metropolitan Volodymyr an Icon of the Mother of God of Khelm as a keepsake.

The Peresopnytsia Gospel is a well-known and intricate manuscript dating back to the middle of the 16th century; it is the first of the known translations of the Holy Scripture into old Ukrainian. In 2007 at the blessing of the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the Kyiv Metropolis together with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine launched a project for its reproduction.

The Peresopnytsia Gospel has already been presented in many countries of the world, in particular, in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Poland, Israel, and a number of Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv, and Nizhyn.
