One of the largest synagogues in Europe opens in Drohobych

On June 17, the restored choral synagogue, built in the middle of the XIX century, was opened in the city of Drohobych (Lviv region), the event was attended by city residents. Drohobych Choral Synagogue is one of the largest in Eastern Europe.

At the opening ceremony, City Mayor Taras Kuchma called all those present for unity and understanding, in order to develop the city together with the entire Drohobych community, IA ZIK reports.

After the Second World War, a fabric storage was located here, then a salt storage, and later - a furniture store. Synagogue for a long time was in a state of emergency. The Jewish community was able to find means for its restoration.
