For two weeks in August, members of the National Scouting Organization of Ukraine together with students of the department of restoration and reconstruction of the Lviv Polytechnic National University will investigate and restore places in Poland where  Ukrainians lived before Operation Wisla.

As the press service of the Lviv City Council reported, this year young professionals will restore abandoned Ukrainian cemeteries and will make signs for tourists. In addition to sightseeing trips and restoration work, students will meet with local Ukrainians to record stories and study traditions, customs, songs, and dialects of these territories.

One of the goals is to engage young people from Ukraine and Poland who are descendants of the people deported from territories where Ukrainians used to live in Poland.

“We aim to unite all those who care about the preservation of the national cultural heritage in Ukraine and abroad and also to invite the Ukrainian youth from outside of Ukraine to communicate with their peers in Ukraine,” said Andrew Kotlyarchuk.
