The Assembly will begin with a solemn Holy Mass in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and will end with the Divine Liturgy in the Greek Catholic St George Cathedral.

According to the organizers, holding such an Assembly is very important for the purpose of building fraternal relations between communities of consecrated life of the two Churches.

“Working together to organize the meeting of the Heads of Conferences of the Major Superiors of Europe, which was to be held in Ukraine last year, but failed due to the events in Ukraine, showed that despite certain peculiarities of life and ministry, the monastic life of the Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic Churches has much in common, therefore the mutual contact, mutual understanding and strengthening of evangelical communion are essential elements of the ecclesial life. Therefore, we sincerely ask you and the members of your community to participate in the Assembly,”reads a statement signed by Heads of the Conferences of male and female institutes of consecrated life of the UGCC and RCC in Ukraine, the UGCC Monasticism website reports.
