The members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations will come to a meeting with President Viktor Yanukovych tomorrow instead of going to Brussels as previously planned.

The members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations will come to a meeting with President Viktor Yanukovych tomorrow instead of going to Brussels as previously planned.

“The Council passed a decision to cancel the visit to Brussels and to meet with President Yanukovych instead. The decision was made over the telephone by the heads of the denominations,” stated the spokesman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, Archbishop Yevstratii (Zoria) to the Ukrainian Truth.

“The planned trip was not connected to political events. It is aimed to present at the international arena the example of denominational cooperation in Ukraine: …the Council includes the Orthodox, Greek Catholics, Roman Catholics, Protestants and Muslims,” said the archbishop in a diplomatic way.

According to the archbishop, it is planned to meet with the European officials later if possible.
