Ecumenical Social Week to Begin with Public Forum on Preventive Education

On 4 October 2010, at the conference hall of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, the third Ecumenical Social Week will open with a public forum “Preventive education of youth.”

LVIV–On 4 October 2010, at the conference hall of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, the third Ecumenical Social Week will open with a public forum “Preventive education of youth” under the motto “Preventive extracurricular training is a step towards future parents of Ukraine.”

The forum is organized by the Christian Evangelical Church Gethsemane, the social-educational public organization Future Parents of Ukraine, the specialized center for support of the family of the Department of Family and Youth of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

As RISU learned from the organizers, the event aims to discuss the achievements of the previous work of institutions and public organizations in the area of extracurricular preventive training. It is planned also to address the local authorities with a request to make a decision to establish in all city schools circles (clubs) with an extended program (with means of video, music, plays, discussions, tours), camps of social and health improvement education.    

The organizers invite school headmasters, methodologists, workers of the respective departments of the local authorities, students, seminarians, representatives of churches and public organizations.

The presidium of the forum includes the head of the Department of Family and Youth of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Andrii Rozhniatkovskyi; the head of the Department of Education of the Lviv City Council, Nadia Oksenchuk; the head of the Committee on Matters of Family of the Lviv Archeparchy of the UGCC, Fr. Taras Fitio; the Rector of the Lviv Roman Catholic Seminary, Fr. Oleh Salomon; and Senior Pastor of the Christian Evangelical Church Gethsemane Valerii Marchenko.
