The construction works to lay a water duct are being carried out at the site of the Muslim burial in Kirov district of Russian-occupied Crimea, owing to which the burial is being destroyed.
It is reported by Depo.ua that cites the website of the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories (MinTOT).
“The construction works associated with the laying of water duct from Northern Crimea to Kerch are being carried out at the Muslim burial located in the disappeared village of Ungut, Kirov district of temporarily occupied Crimea. Such information was recorded by said Ministry during the monitoring of the legal regime of the temporarily occupied territory,” the report states.
As noted, it is likely that during the preparatory work for laying the water duct across the burial site some “archaeological excavations” were being made, while the occupying authorities are trying to present Muslim graves as “ancient Scythian burial”.
“Local residents have appealed to the occupation government bodies with the requirement to bypass the cemetery during the water duct construction,” the Ministry notes.
The Ministry deems inadmissible the destruction of graves, places of worship, sites of historical heritage in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
“The failure of the occupying state to meet the basic needs of the population cannot be an excuse for such barbarism,” the statement says.
