Three Polish students attempted to light flares at Lychankiv cemetery in Lviv, detained

On Thursday, November 22, at about 11:00, three Polish students, who tried to fire the flares on one of the fields of the Lychakiv cemetery, were detained. This was announced by Lviv Deputy Mayor on development Andriy Moskalenko, ZAXID.NET reports.

“The attackers were detained near the graves of Polish military. The director of Lychakiv Cemetery informed that after their detention by the cemetery guards, police and the SBU were immediately called. The attackers will be transferred to law enforcement agencies for action in accordance with the current legislation,” said Andriy Moskalenko.

In his comments, Andriy Moskalenko clarified that the cemetery's security had spotted three young men in the cemetery with a bag in which the attackers brought flares. Students were detained at a time when they tried to fire them.

Yuriy Holub, an employee of the Department of Communication of the National Police Main Department in Lviv region, said that the investigation and operational group was currently working on the scene. More information will be reported later.

As reported, on November 4, Polish football fans with fires and banners at the Lwów Eaglets cemetery celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Polish struggle against ZUNR. The action lasted about 5 minutes. Subsequently, Head of the Lviv Regional Council, Oleksandr Hanushyn, called the police, the prosecutor's office, the SBU and the border guards to respond to the action of Polish football fans.
