Stations of the Cross at Lviv’s Vysokyy Zamok destroyed by vandals

In Lviv, the vandals have damaged the Stations of the Cross Road in the park of Vysokyy Zamok. Lvivsky Portal reports about it with a reference to Skarbek’s Charitable Foundation.

The Way of the Cross was blessed in 2015, the construction of each station started as early as in 2010. Each station is worth 3-5 thousand dollars. Today, the vandals destroyed the cross at one of the stations, on the other day they finally broke two figures of praying women, bent and stole prayer tables, anchorages.

One of the figures has already been restored, the other needs a global and expensive restoration that will last no less than a month. It is reported by sculptor Bogdan Hretchak. According to him, the restoration work of a damaged figure in its complexity is similar to the manufacture of a new one, and, accordingly, is significantly costly.

Nazariy Brezitsky, president of the Skarbek’s charity fund, one of the patrons who funded the production of the 8th station which was affected the most, set to repair damaged figures at his own expense, and in a month they will stand in the place of prayer.

Every year, the parishioners and guests of Lviv pray at this Way of the Cross, walking along the path of Jesus from condemnation to death.
